Aseem Trivedi Biography

Aseem Trivedi is originally from Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh. He is an Indian political cartoonist and activist, best known for his anti corruption campaign Cartoons Against Corruption. He is a founder member of Save Your Voice, a movement against internet censorship in India.
The activist was recently rewarded with the Courage in Editorial Cartooning Award for 2012 by Cartoonists Rights Network International. He moved to Delhi in 2010, when he was just 22 and continued to work as a freelance cartoonist. He became closely involved with the Anna Hazare led campaign against corruption and displayed several of his cartoons during protests. Aseem was arrested in Mumbai for making eight seditious cartoons  in 2012.

Aashka Goradia is an Indian Television actress. She was born on November 27, 1985.
Aashka made her acting debut with Balaji Telefilms. Urvashi Dholakia Biography

Urvashi Dholakia is a Indian television actress, who is best known for playing the negative roles, as of Komolika Basu, in the STAR Plus daily soap opera, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, which ran from 2001 to 2008.
Urvashi first acted in TV commercial of Lux soap with actress Revathi at age six. She made her television acting debut, at age eight with the TV serial by Shri Adhikari Brothers’ (SAB), Waqt Ki Raftar, and other TV series and a few movies as a child actor. Though she really started acting after her first major appearance, as actor Vishal Singh’s teenage love interest in comedy-TV series, Dekh Bhai Dekh (1993) at age 14, and she has been acting ever since.

SAMPAT PAL Biography

Sampat Pal, an Indian social worker, is the founder and leader of a group of women vigilantes in India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state’s Banda District, called the “gulabi gang” or “pink gang”—so named because many of them wear a uniform of a pink sari.
Sampat Pal Devi, a mother of five and former government health worker  as a response to widespread domestic abuse and other violence against women founded the gang in 2006. Gulabi gang is famous for approaching the abusive husbands and beat them up with bamboo sticks unless they stop abusing their wives.  They have also stopped child marriages and protested dowry and female illiteracy.
Galabi Gang was reported to have 20,000 members as of 2008.
Inspired by the “Gulabi Gang”, several documentaries have been made. A documentary called “Gulabi Gang”, directed by Nishtha Jain, premiered at the Norwegian Short Film Festival in 2012. A movie called “Pink Saris” has been made about them, directed by Kim Longinotto. Anubhav Sinha is in a process of making another movie on this gang titled” Gulab Gang” In 2008, Oh! Editions published her autobiography “Sampat Pal – A warrior in pink sare”

Navjot Singh Sidhu Biography

Navjot Singh Sidhu , born 20 October 1963 is former Indian cricketer. The cricketer took up television commentary, and politics after retirement from cricket. He is 1st contestant to enter Big Boss season 6.

Navjot Singh Sidhu had a volatile career as a cricketer from 1983 to 1999. Navjot Singh Sidhu was a very good opening batsman as well as a very good attacking batsman of spin bowling. Sidhu was the first Indian batsman to score more than 5 centuries in one day international. His debut in Test cricket was against the West Indies at Ahmedabad in 1983-84. But he was dropped after playing only two Tests. Sidhu made an exellent comeback in the Reliance World Cup in 1987. He played 51 Test Matches for the Indian Cricket Team between (1983 – 1999) and played 136 One Day Internationl matches for India between (1987 – 1998).

Sidhu started his career as a commentator for Nimbus sport when India toured Sri Lanka in 2001. He later became a commentator with ESPN Star Sports.
He also appeared as a judge on the television programme – “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.” He was also figured in other similar programmes as “Funjabi Chak De.”

Politics

Sidhu won on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from the Amritsar seat in the Indian general elections, 2004. After resigning due to a court case against him, he stood again after the ruling was stayed. He won a by-election with a good majority. In the 2009 general elections, he kept the Amritsar seat defeating Om Prakash Soni of INC by 6858 votes.
